Tunisia: Domestic Natural Gas Production Up By 62 Percent At End of April 2021
Domestic gas resources (national production + tax package) reached 1049 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent (ktoe) at the end of April 2021, up by 62% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the document on the Energy Conjuncture which has been published by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines.
This significant improvement is the result of the contribution of the Nawara field, which was able to compensate for the drop in production in the other fields, as well as the increase in the royalty on the transit of Algerian gas by more than 190%.
Domestic crude oil production increased by 16% to 655 thousand tonnes (kt) at the end of April 2021. The contribution of Halk el Manzel which has just started production in January 2021 (production is estimated at 88 kt) and Nawara (27 kt) has compensated for the drop in production recorded in several fields, namely: Hasdrubal (-24%), Gherib (-55%), Franig /bag./Tarfa (-20), Cherouq (-9%), Cercina (-11%) and Miskar (-8%).
On the other hand, other fields recorded an improvement in production, including El Hajeb/Guebiba (+41%), Ashtart (+11%), Adam (+17%) and Barka (+3%).
As a result, the daily average of oil production rose from 36.3 thousand barrels/d at the end of April 2020 to 42.2 thousand barrels/d at the end of April 2021.
As for the national production of primary LPG, it evolved by 23%, to 56 kt.
