5th Ghana Industrial Summit & Exhibition opens in Accra
The 5th Ghana Industrial Summit and Exhibition (GISE), organised by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) opened today August 16, 2022 at the Labadi Beach Hotel, Accra, under the theme: “Investing in Ghanaian Industries to Leverage Opportunities in the Single African Market.”
The objective of the 2022 AGI GISE, according to Dr Humphrey Ayim Darke, President of the AGI, is to promote industrial and investment opportunities. “The event seeks to attract local investment to invigorate the private sector, which will impact on the economic growth, thereby leverage opportunities in the single African market,” he noted.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the opening of the event saw the sector Minister, Alan Kyerematen, give the keynote address, where he espoused government’s commitment to ensure the private sector in Ghana takes full advantage of the single market availed by the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Day One of the three-day event focused on the role of investments in leveraging the prospects of a single African Market, and Ghana’s attractiveness as an investment location. Day Two will look at the country’s equity and impact investment ecosystem and environment, whereas the final day of the Summit will assess the energy landscape in Ghana to support industrialisation.
The event, meanwhile, features several companies participating in the exhibition.
Present at the 5th GISE included representatives from the ministries of Trade and Industry, Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and Energy; the European Union, the Volta River Authority, the Bui Power Authority, Nuclear Power Ghana, and several delegates from the international business community and other African states.
