GNPC Foundation And Claron Health International Undertake Free Eye Surgeries In Western Region
As part of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation’s business to create health awareness campaigns and improve quality health care, the Foundation in partnership with Claron Health International last year embarked on free eye screening exercise.
The event offered free eye testing, free prescription glasses, free medication and consultancy to over Three Thousand (3000) patients at local community health centers at Ekwei, Anyinase, Nkroful, Esiama, Awaso, Cherano, Bekwai, and Bibiani with a team of specialists.
Two Hundred (200) patients out of the 3000 examined were in critical conditions and thus required surgeries.
The Board of Directors for GNPC Foundation at their recent meeting agreed to bear the cost of surgeries for the 200 cases which were critical.
Sixty-Three (63) out of the 200 patients are currently undergoing free eye surgery in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal in the Western region of Ghana.
Dr Dominic Kwesi Eduah, Executive Director of GNPC Foundation says the exercise sits in tandem with the Foundation’s commitment to providing support for health awareness campaigns and giving hope to the hopeless.
“The eye as important as it is to our whole being, remains one of the more critical areas of concern for many locals who are without the means to seek proper eye care.” He stated.
